CANM 245 - Writing For The Screen From Idea to Image Credits: 4 Prerequisites: WTG 191 if CANM; WTG 192 and CANM 300 if from other departments or instructor consent Software required: Final Draft Delivery mode: On-Campus and Online Fees: Lab fee: $20 if enrolled on-campus Students are introduced to the process of preparing a story to be told in a visual medium. Students learn the basics of script and screenplay writing by participating in basic skills exercises, including dialogue emulation and performance, script-to-screen analysis, and scene adaptation. To produce effective screenplays, students develop their own toolkit for overcoming challenges in idea conception, story structure, and dialogue. Coursework will result in scripts suitable for production in later courses. This is a writing-intensive course. May be repeated for credit.
