CANM 300 - Art Of Story Unifying and Unfolding the Full Range of Human Experience Credits: 4 Prerequisites: WTG 191 if CANM; WTG 192 if from other departments Delivery mode: On-Campus and Online (Study Abroad) This writing-intensive course examines the essential role of Story in media. Even the earliest human records - mythology, scripture, literature, cave paintings - always told stories. Understanding how to use stories gives you a great advantage in any creative medium. We examine the range of story forms and narrative devices that have been used from earliest times until today. Although media forms have changed as technology has advanced, the essential forms of story have stayed with us for ages, reflecting both the universal and specific aspects of human experience. Students undertake projects that develop their own story writing skills.
