CANM 235 - Creative Songwriting

Prerequisites: CANM 233 and CANM 234 Prior skills or knowledge required: Proficiency in a musical instrument or faculty consent

Students learn the craft of songwriting, which includes creating lyrics, finding melodies, and practicing with their instrument of choice to bring their songs to life. In this class, we will work individually and collaboratively to create, record, and perform songs from the deepest level of consciousness. Techniques for song structure and anatomy are taught alongside creative techniques to express different experiences and impart a feeling to the audience. At the conclusion of this course, students will create at least two compositions that they record as a demo and perform in front of a live audience.
