2nd Specialization Extension Program Description
Students in the MBA for Professionals with an Accounting or Enterprise Resource Planning and Analytics Specialization who have successfully completed all 53 credits of required academic coursework within the expected 31-32-month timeframe may take an elective extension for up to one year to complete additional studies in their 2nd area of Specialization. Students who plan to enroll in the Elective Extension must maintain a 3.0 GPA (B) average in all courses and must have a 3.0 CGPA in the MBA for Professionals program.
2ND Specialization Extension Tuition
The cost of tuition for the Elective Extension is $2,500 USD per semester for two semesters. Students who enroll in the MBA for Professionals Elective Extension program must pay the total $5,000 USD cost of tuition for the year in advance. Students in the Elective Extension program must also purchase in an individual health insurance plan during the additional year of enrollment at MIU.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with an MBA for Professionals in both Specialzations, students must successfully complete a total of 67 credits. First, the student must successfully complete 53 total credits of study for the 31-32-month MBA for Professionals program in their 1st chosen Specialization (Accounting or Enterprise Resource Planning and Analytics), including the 4-credit sequence of Science of Creative courses required for all graduate students, 28 credits of courses specific to their 1st Specialization, 4 credits of courses in career strategies and business communication, 4 credits of MBA 5000-level elective coursework, 4 credits of MBA 5000-level coursework related to the student’s 2nd Specialization, and 9 credits of Practicums with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) in a full-time position related to the student’s studies in the MBA for Professionals program.
Students have the option of fulfilling all or part of the required Practicum credits by successfully completing additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level courses. Each additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level course earns 3 credits that can be applied to the 9-credit Practicum requirement.
During the one-year Elective Extension program, students must complete 14 additional credits including 8 additional credits of MGT 5000-level courses specific to their 2nd Specialization and 6 credits of practicums with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) in a full-time position related to the student’s studies in the MBA for Professionals program.
Students have the option of fulfilling all or part of the required Practicum credits by successfully completing additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level courses. Each additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level course earns 3 practicum credits that can be applied to the Elective Extension’s 6-credit Practicum requirement.
Note: With the permission of the department chair, a maximum of 8 elective credits may be taken as graduate courses in other departments of the university or as undergraduate courses designated 300-level or above in other departments of the university. MBA students who take undergraduate courses may be required to do extra work commensurate with graduatelevel credit.
