Master of Business Administration for Professionals with One Specialization

Program Description

The MBA for Professionals program is offered to international candidates with a strong academic background and professional experience in accounting. This 53-credit program requires eight months of study on campus and up to two years of credit-bearing, full-time internships with companies in the U.S. Students continue to engage in academic coursework at quarter-speed while working full-time in authorized Curricular Practical Training (CPT). The coursework in this program format is intended to prepare students for professional certification exams in accounting or ERP/SAP.

The MBA for Professionals Program offers students a choice of two areas of specialization:

  • Accounting
  • Enterprise Resource Planning and Business Analytics

Entrance Requirements

The MBA for Professionals program is designed for students who have substantial training or experience in business with special admission requirements emphasizing prior study and professional experience.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with an MBA for Professionals with one Specialization, students must successfully complete a minimum of 53 total credits of study, including the 4-credit sequence of Science of Creative Intelligence courses required for all graduate students, 28 credits of courses specific to one Specialization (Accounting or Enterprise Resource Planning and Analytics), 4 credits of courses in career strategies and business communication, and 8 credits of MBA 5000-level electives, and 9 credits of Practicums with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) in a full-time position related to the student’s studies in the MBA for Professionals program. Students have the option of fulfilling all or part of the required Practicum credits by successfully completing additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level courses. Each additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level course earns 3 practicum credits that can be applied to the 9-credit Practicum requirement. 

Note: With the permission of the department chair, a maximum of 8 elective credits may be taken as graduate courses in other departments of the university or as undergraduate courses designated 300-level or above in other departments of the university. MBA students who take undergraduate courses may be required to do extra work commensurate with graduate level credit. 

MBA for Professionals with One Specialization Requirements


Science of Creative Intelligence Requirement (Choose one series/total 4 credits)


Each course in the FOR 500  sequence fulfills the Forest Academy requirement for the semester in which the course is completed.

Advanced Studies in Student’s Chosen Specialization (Choose 28 credits in one Specialization)


MGT 5000+ courses in Accounting Credits: variable

MBA 5000-Level Electives (8 credits)


Students who are planning to complete the Extension Year must complete 4 MBA elective credits related to their 2nd Specialization.

  • Any MGT 5000+ courses Credits: variable

Practicum with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) (total 9 credits)


Students may fulfill all or part of the required Practicum credits by successfully completing additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level courses. Each additional 3-4 credit MGT 5000-level course earns 3 practicum credits that can be applied to the 9-credit Practicum requirement.
