Program Description
The BA in Consciousness and Human Potential for Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Technique is designed for students who have successfully completed the TM Teacher Training Course (TTC) and have extensive experience in researching and/or teaching the Transcendental Meditation technique.
Becoming a Transcendental Meditation Teacher
Students who have successfully completed a minimum of 1 year of coursework in the College of Maharishi Vedic Science may apply to take the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course (TTC) to learn how to effortlessly transform their students’ lives toward greater peace and well-being while accelerating their own development of consciousness and contributing to the growth of peace and happiness in our nation and the world. Students who successfully complete MVS 490 - Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course (TTC) at MIU may be awarded academic credit under a contractual agreement with Maharishi European Research University (MERU), Netherlands, a non-accredited, non-federal-aid-eligible organization which controls applications and acceptance to the course, course cost, and course content.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Arts in Consciousness and Human Potential for Teachers of TM, students will be able to:
- Identify improvements in behavior, perception, thinking, feeling and overall growth of consciousness resulting from practice of the technologies of Maharishi Vedic Science. (1)
- Orally communicate principles of modern science and Maharishi Vedic Science and their application to fulfilling humanity’s highest goals, using pertinent research findings and source documents. (2,4,5,8)
- Communicate in writing principles of modern science and Maharishi Vedic Science and their application to fulfilling humanity’s highest goals, using pertinent research findings and source documents. (2,4,5,8)
- Demonstrate transferable skills needed for a successful career, including Consciousness-based professions, and for fulfilling other aims in life. (7,8)
Entrance Requirements
To enter this program, students must have successfully completed one year of coursework at MIU, including 20 credits in the following MIU courses:
BA CHP for Teachers of TM Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a BA in Consciousness and Human Potential for Teachers of TM, students must successfully complete 108 credits of study, 8 credits of Writing for Career and Community, one Forest Academy course in each semester in which the student is enrolled for 12 weeks or more, 28 credits of core Consciousness and Human Potential courses, 4 credits of CHP electives, 4 credits for the senior capstone Writing and Speaking Project, and a choice of open electives.
