Each 16-week, one-semester Mentorship offers beginning or advanced writers the opportunity to work on a writing project of choice under the guidance of one of MIU’s highly credentialed mentors.
The Advanced Creative Writing Mentorship in creative non-fiction offers full immersion in the craft and technique of writing nonfiction. The Mentorship is tailored to each student’s specific needs and may emphasize flash nonfiction, personal essay, and/or memoir. Students write original work and receive intensive feedback in a one-on-one mentorship and online workshops with the aim of revising their work in-depth. A companion literature course focuses on reading and craft analysis in the genre of creative nonfiction in support of the student’s original creative work.
