Each 16-week, one-semester Mentorship offers beginning or advanced writers the opportunity to work on a writing project of choice under the guidance of one of MIU’s highly credentialed mentors.
The Advanced Creative Writing Mentorship in Fiction offers full immersion in the craft and technique of fiction. Students write original work and receive intensive feedback in a one-on-one mentorship and online workshops with the aim of revising their work in-depth. The Mentorship is tailored to each student’s specific needs and may emphasize short story, flash fiction, novel, novella, experimental fiction, and/or speculative fiction. A companion literature course focuses on reading and craft analysis in the genre of poetry in support of the student’s original creative work.
