Advanced Creative Writing Mentorship in Poetry

Each 16-week, one-semester Mentorship offers beginning or advanced writers the opportunity to work on a writing project of choice under the guidance of one of MIU’s highly credentialed mentors.

The Advanced Creative Writing Mentorship in Poetry offers full immersion in the craft and technique of poetry. The Mentorship is tailored to each student’s specific needs and may emphasize closed and/or open form poetry, cross-genre or hybrid work, experimental poetry, long form poetry, or prose poetry. Students write original work and receive extensive feedback in a one-on-one mentorship and online workshops with the aim of developing and revising their work in-depth. A companion literature course focuses on reading and craft analysis in the genre of poetry in support of the student’s original creative work.
