Program Description
The Department of English: Writing and Literature directs MIU’s college writing and composition program required for all undergraduate students.

Required Undergraduate Writing and Composition Courses
Two college-level writing and composition courses are required for all undergraduate students and are offered both on-campus and online: MIU Writing Center
The Writing Center offers free academic writing support to MIU students in all programs and disciplines. The Writing Center’s staff of writing consultants provide constructive responses and suggest strategies for improvement at any stage of the writing process, from outline to revisions to final draft. Writing consultants also work with graduate and doctoral students in the process of writing a thesis or dissertation. Writing Center Location and Hours The Writing Center is located in the Wege Center for the Arts, Room #116. In-person writing consultations are available in the Writing Center Monday-Thursday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, Central Time. Writing consultations are also available online via Zoom Monday-Thursday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, Central Time and Sunday from 10:00 am to noon Central Time.
