PH 263 - Maharishi Yoga Asanas Vedic Exercise to Enliven Mind-Body Coordination Credits: 4 credits | BA STC only: 2 credits Delivery mode: On-Campus and Online Yoga is an aspect of the ancient tradition of enlightenment expressed in the Vedic literature and brought to light by Maharishi in a scientific framework. According to Maharishi, Yoga includes technologies that unify all aspects of individual and societal life. These technologies unify the mind and body of every individual with the total intelligence of life. One technology of Yoga consists of specific physical postures called the Maharishi Yoga Asanas. The theoretical part of this unique course presents the knowledge of Yoga as union and provides an understanding of the specific effects of Yoga Asanas on the mind and body - physiology and consciousness. Proper practice of Yoga Asanas - a major aspect of this course - provides students with the experience of deep relaxation, bliss, and expansion of awareness. Since the Maharishi Yoga Asanas are an important aspect of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs, this course enables the students to gain knowledge and experience that will support their practice of these programs.
