Ethnobotany is the study of the relationship between people and plants. This course will introduce students to ethnobotany by focusing on principles and methods used by professional ethnobotanists. Students will be introduced to different facets of ethnobotany through case studies and projects to explore ethnobotanical practices in their local community. Topics will include nutritional ethnobotany, linguistic ethnobotany, and medical ethnobotany. By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the historical, cultural, and modern significance of ethnobotany, highlighting the profound connection between humans and the plant world.
