CANM 248 - The Power Of Imagination Developing the Full Range of Human Creativity Credits: 4 Prerequisites: Prior skills or knowledge required: Basic computer skills Delivery mode: On-Campus and Online This course delves into the immense potential of human imagination and its influence on creativity and fiction writing. We will delve into the origins of imagination in human evolution and explore the physiological processes that drive it. Moreover, students will have the unique opportunity to participate in inspiration sessions, sharing their creative work with the class and receiving feedback. As part of the course project, students will have the creative freedom to express their ideas and imagination using various mediums, such as creative writing, graphic design, photography, and music. We will highlight the vital role of imagination in crafting compelling and enriching narrative prose and demonstrate how it serves as the cornerstone of the creative process. Additionally, we will teach students how to leverage AI to enhance their creative projects. Throughout the course, students will engage in a series of exercises that sharpen and expand their imaginative abilities and power. Drawing inspiration from highly creative works by writers, artists, filmmakers, actors, and musicians, we will help students understand and implement effective creative techniques. The course culminates in a final project, where students showcase their creative talents.
