CANM 236 - Sound Design A Professional Workflow for Bringing Imagery to Life with Sound Credits: 4 Prerequisites: Prior skills or knowledge required: Basic computer skills, Media software and DAW experience. Software required: Avid Pro Tools Delivery mode: On-Campus Fees: Lab fee: $20 This course is designed to give students a full grasp of the foundational principals involved in post-production audio. Using Avid Pro Tools, we will dive deep into all aspects of the industry standard practices, covering ADR, Foley, Sound Effects, Music and Score. We will speak with industry professionals for advice and critique. As this is a project-based course students will work on one project throughout its entirety, adding onto it each week as we grow in knowledge. In this course students will choose a five-minute clip from a film of their choice. We will then remove and re-record all sound elements. What we will learn in the course will then be translatable and applicable to any other form of media sound design. Students who complete this course will learn a complete, new skill set that offers a lifetime of value throughout their career.
