This course offers comprehensive knowledge and training in fundamental concepts and principles of chemistry for essential oils. Students learn chemistry and biochemistry concepts associated with aromatherapy, and the therapeutic effects of aromatic molecules of essential oils. Topics of course include atomic structure, nomenclature, chemical bonds, molecular weight, valence, the basis of organic chemistry, the structure of aromatic molecules, radicals, isomers, the basis of biochemistry, chirality, chemotypes, chemical and therapeutic properties of aromatic molecules, and structure of bioactive components of essential oils
