AG 310 - New Farm Economics Seeking the Highest First Credits: 2 Prerequisites: AG 200 or AG 300 Delivery mode: Online New Farm Economics explores how small and mid-size farms can survive and thrive alongside commodity scale agriculture, with an approach that focuses on cooperation, interdependency, diversity, and value-added products. This course will address the key aspects of product planning, customer acquisition, marketing, and collaborative partnerships needed to build a profitable small farm in the 21st century. It will also take a deep dive into new farm business models, whole-farm budgeting, and understanding farm profit and loss (P&L) by market channel. By the end of this course, students will have built a clear plan to answer the key questions: How can you reap an actual profit on your small farm, including a return on land investment, and how do you access education, land, and other needs with limited capital.
