AG 251 - Agroecology

Observe How Living Organisms Maintain Perfect Orderliness in Their Physical Environment
Credits: 4
Delivery mode: On-Campus and Online
This course fulfillsthe BAAS Critical and Creative Thinking Seminar (CCTS) requirement.
While agriculture and ecology are often taught separately, the two subjects are never truly independent of one another. In this critical-thinking course, students will be introduced to the field of Agroecology, where ecological principles seamlessly intersect with regenerative organic agriculture. Topics include the role of carbon and energy in the agroecosystem, community ecology, and population dynamics. In addition to learning fundamental ecological principles, students will develop the skills to analyze and troubleshoot challenges within a farm environment. This involves viewing the farm not only as a self-contained ecosystem but also as an integral component of the broader ecological system. The course aims to foster a holistic understanding of the interconnectedness between agricultural practices and ecological dynamics.
