AG 235 - Food Forest Design & Development Cultivating Harmony Through Diversity Credits: 2 Delivery mode: Online Food forests are consciously designed forest gardens that provide for human needs while enhancing local ecology and improving the greater environment. This course will introduce students to basic concepts for food forest design, including site analysis, plant selection strategies, and considerations for initial development and systems maintenance. Students will learn how to identify plants based on their ability to relate to and interact with other plant communities, along with how they can combine various trees, shrubs, and herbs together to create a holistic, functional ecosystem that provides food and fiber for themselves and the greater community. This course will culminate with a final project in which students will perform site analysis to create a comprehensive plan for the design and development of their own food forest.
