CANM 288 - Video Editing Capturing, Cutting, Sequencing, and Compositing Sound and Image to Create Artistic Wholeness Credits: 4 Prerequisites: CANM 283 or CANM 284 ; or co-requisite with CANM 284 Prior skills or knowledge required: Basic computer skills Software/hardware required: Adobe Creative Cloud license; additional camera equipment Delivery mode: On-Campus and Online Fees: Lab fee: $20 if enrolled on-campus This is a two-block course. Video editing requires that students amalgamate all the different elements of their video into a greater whole. Using the latest software technology, we explore the craft of video editing and the techniques used to maximize the emotional impact of the story. Students become experts in utilizing 2021/2023 nonlinear editing tools through weekly editing projects. Students learn keyboard shortcuts and advanced trimming tools, transitions, filters, titles, keyframes, compositing tools, audio mixing, color correction, capturing and outputting. Students are allotted time for creating proposals, filming their own content and are encouraged to edit their own footage throughout the course to bring greater emphasis and enhancement of their portfolio-work.
